Loaves and Fishes is a 501C3 nonprofit founded in 1983.  The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs.    

They are the largest provider of hot meals to the hungry in Contra Costa County, serving over 170,000 hot meals this fiscal year in five dining rooms .

Open volunteered at two sites, one in Bay Point and one in Antioch.  At each site, Open volunteers helped prepare and serve over a 100 meals to very appreciative people.  Our volunteers were so moved by the experience. On the way home from the experience, a twelve year Open volunteer said, “After each Open event, I just want to do more!”
