Grateful Gatherings is a fantastic program that believes that ‘families can thrive when they have a safe and comfortable home.’ When families transition from homelessness or crisis into a new home in the Bay Area, Grateful Gatherings receives donations to furnish the entire home.

Open collected donations to completely furnish a home for a wonderful family.  We also gathered a team of Open volunteers to collect the furniture/household items and help set up the family’s new home and new life.

We had so much fun supporting this family (a single mom named Tien and her three year old son named Fillimone) and helping t create a new home and new start.  A case manager from a homeless shelter nominated this family due to her hard work ethic! The pandemic was difficult for many people, including Tien who lost her job and could not pay rent and ended up homeless.  She has qualified for subsidized housing but had nothing to furnish the house.  We got to fill the house with furniture and accessories to help create a functional home for Tien and her son.
